Know Employee Provident Fund balance online by SMS

Now any person (who already enrolled to EPF India) can check their Employee PF Account online. This is EPFO the official website for Employee Provident Fund for India. To check PF status online refer below guide. Open website http://www.epfindia.com

It will display homepage as below.



From home page click Know Your EPF Balance. So it will open page like below one.


From opened page, Click "Click Here" link. After Clicking "Click Here" you will get page like below. See below screenshot. 



Here select State. PF office state and city is generally given in Salary Slip. PF office state depends on your Employer. For example, if your employer is at Bangalore city in Karnataka State. So first you need to select Karnataka State. After selecting State it will display list of cities where Employee Provident Fund Offices exists. See below Image. 



Now let's select Bangalore office from given list of Offices. So it will display like below. It will automatically takes BG (Code for Karnataka State) and BNG (means you have selected Bangalore City Office) in Employee PF Account number field.




Now you need to fill Establishment code, Extension, Account number and Name (same as appears in salary slip). When you click on blank box, it will guide you what you need to enter in respective box. All details are given in Salary Slip. Type Mobile number in blank space to which you want to receive PF Detail. Then check "I Agree" box and click "Submit" it. After some time you will get SMS on entered Mobile Number. Make sure that all entered information should be correct.

Received SMS Detail: EPF Balance in A/C No. BG/BNG/xxxxx/xx/xxxxx is EE amt: Rs.XXX, ER Amt:Rs.XXX as on DD-MM-YY (Accounts updated upto DD-MM-YYYY)-EPFO.

Where EE is Employee Contribution and ER is Employer Contribution. Generally EE amount will be more than ER amount.

EE amount is 12% of basic salary and ER amount is also 12% of basic salary.

ER amount is divided into Employees Pension Scheme (EPS) and PF.

From 12%, 8.33% goes into EPS and remaining amount into PF.
